Pocklington School
5mm Corten Steel cladding to window surrounds and entrance way. This represents an architectural finishing detail to their cutting edge new art and design block.
The entrance was formed from 4 mighty sheets of 10mm Corten plate! Into these sheets the school "Acanthius Leaf" logo and artwork was water jet cut. NES' 250 ton press brake had no trouble folding these sheets. The fork lift was needed to light them into position though!
This exiting project was provided by NES on a supply only basis over a 12 month period.
The lead contractor Geo Houlton provided the client with a turn key service designing and installing all works.
The finish on the weathering steel was chemically rusted with a clear matt nano lacquer to the face. This lacquer provided a significant contribution towards reducing the amount of rust rub off and wash off. There was no warranty provided on the lacquer used externally in this circumstance. The use of the lacquer in this project has proved effective and lasting none the less.
