Rain Screen Cladding Systems will typically have the following benefits:

• Speed of installation
• Wide variety of materials, finishes and colours
• Cost effective solution
• High levels of fire, acoustic and thermal performance
• Highly resistant to all weathers

Max sheet size:

2 meters x 8 meters.

Fixing systems:

• Invisible fix hook on system with pins
• Invisible fix hook on system with hooks
• Dishpan with through face fix
• Interlocking plank
• Bespoke fixing system

This can be for acoustic spandrel panels or architectural cladding.

We offer a range of pre perforated sheets in steel, stainless steel or aluminium. These have a consistant perforation and are fairly commercial. Where the perforations need to be fitted to the panel or there is a variance a custom pattern is created. This is fabricated in 3 main ways:

1) Punched. This is for circular holes. The punch can hold up to 20 differnt tools simultaniously. Our extensive library holds over 3,000 different tools for perforations, dimples, embossing and cutting. The punch is faster than many CNC processes. The use of gang punch tools can allow for as many as 6 holes to be punched simultaniously. Dependant on the "free air flow" of the design and thickness of the material there can be deflection in the sheet (thin material, lots removed). We can roll sheets flat however this is a consideration.

2) Water jet cutting. We can water jet cut at up to 4 meters by 2 meters. This is capable of cutting though 250mm mild steel and 150mm stainless steel. At the cutting edge the accuracy is +/- 0.1mm. The seamless intergration with CAD software allows architects designs to be directly transposed to the sheet. Complete form freedom is possible with an internal diameter of only 2mm. Due to the lack of heat this is ideal for anodised aluminium as it does not damage the structure of the open cell aluminium. Also with Corten the rust "patina" is not effected by the cut border like laser cutting machines. Cement particle board is good as intricate detailing can be achieved without the danger of the sheet cracking or crumbling.

3) CNC routing. We have a number of machines that cut up to 2 meter by 3 meters. CNC Routing is ideal for aluminium composite material (ACM), Corian, Hi-Macs or Polycarbonate. We cannot route steel as it it too hard for the diamond plated carbide drill bits. 3mm diameter drill bit.

The more information that can be provided, the faster, more accurate and definitive we can be with our pricing.
Ideally, a full drop box including CAD, .pdf, architectural visualisations and NBS Specifications will be provided.
Typically we like to offer a range of materials, fixing systems and finishes.

These should be broken down into:
• Survey
• Design (drawing up, workshop drawings and structural calculations)
• Manufacture
• Installation.

For jobs under 100 square meters we would generally offer a supply only price. This is due to the project overheads of RAMS, project managers, legal contractual’s, credit insurance, design detailing, site liability insurance etc. We have a list of accredited installation contractors through the UK that we can make available in these instances.

Kemplinski Hotel Dubai

This is achieved in a 50mm void between the glass and structural steels.

Over 4.5 tons of glass is supported with no witness or visible fixings.

Each of the sides is dimmable to allow for more light on the mall side of the arch than on the hotel side.

Scope:

• NES produced the whole 3D design.

• Cut files for the stone out to the Italian stone provider to water jet cut to.

• NES manufactured and dispatched LED Ultra Light Panels to back light the onyx evenly.

• We sent an installation manager to oversee the fit and provide specialist technical support.

• NES specified the bonding agent and provided the support system.

This project has proved to be well celebrated, currently used as the web site cover photo for the 5* Dubai Hotel Kemplinski web site.

The installation has also stood the test of time, with 100% of the panels working 3 years after installation.

The Colonnades I-LED Light Wall

The Colonnades Shopping Centre - Bayswater

Porchester Walk - I LED Feature Lighting

This is for a new and prestigious shopping centre in Bayswater. The lead tenant Waitrose has the main frontage. The other units are accessible via the Porchester Walk passage open to the public 24 hours a day. The concept is to entice members of the public into the passage and increase the visual interest and light in the space. Clearly the need to maximise the amount of usable windows was a commercial imperative. DLG Architects solution was to clad the structural columns with diffusing glass framelessly spanning some 2.7 meters in height. This was conducted through a close consultation with the NES design and technical teams over a 2 year period. One of the key focal points was the corner column. In this area the Matrix LED Light Panels were specifically cut around the glazing brackets. This proved extremely important in throwing the Light to the edge of the glass to glass corner. The ceiling has two extruded aluminium LED linear strips. These have extruded PMMA acrylic clip in covers for easy cleaning and maintenance. The 2 strips run the 38 meter length of the passage on a single programme. To provide dynamic lighting effects and "future proofing" individually addressable LEDs were proposed. This enables each of the 15,000 RGB LEDs in the passage to be controlled either directly through a laptop or following a pre-recorded routine via the controller SD Cards. The below test program images show a colour wash fade however; video media, animation, text or interactive effects are all possible with the installed hardware.

6 Bevis Marks - LED Light Box

This highly prestigious new build project bought together leaders in the construction space. The original design featured Structuran. This is a recycled glass product manufactured in Germany. Fletcher Priest Architects used the unique texture and refraction of this surface to make the square geometry of the building stand out. The glass is framelessly fixed with undercut anchor fixings. This in effect means the 20mm thick glass sheets have to float as a rain screen façade.

For the building signage Fletcher Priest Architect wanted this to be truly integrated with the building rather than tacked on as an after thought. This was achieved by sandblasting the back painting off the glass to form the letters "VI BEVIS MARKS". This was then back illuminated with an external Technic LED Light Panel. Edge lighting rather than back lighting was critical to the success of this element due to the gap of only 25mm between the internal face of the glass and the structural steel girder. As the LED Light Panel was between the rain screen cladding and the damp proof membrane of the building it had to be IP rated. Also the translucent green on the logo and opal diffuser needed to be integrated into the LED Light Panel Build. The brightness, reliability and even illumination of the product proved critical to the success of this sign.

NES worked closely with Lindner Facades Ltd to ensure a smooth integration of the facade and the LED Lighting.

The roof also features a winter garden canopy of ETFE pillows in a dramatic wave shaped canopy. The long life, ability to form compound curves and lightweight properties of EFTE are ideal for this. In this semi enclosed space the acoustic properties of ETFE to absorb sound rather than echo is critical to the enjoyment of the space.

This ambitious project has a 20 meter external LED Light Wall behind structural glass.

In addition to the requirements of providing bright, even illumination there are 3 illuminated doors. This demanded the use of LED Light Panels sealed into the door units. The project was conceived back in November 2011 with an architectural and client team from Make Architects visiting 3 London Light Wall installations by NES Lightline. Following the success of this the light design team NDYLight were bought on board. They specified the colour temperature, LUX, Lumens, CRI, Dali control functions and Candela. Galliford Try was appointed as lead contractor and Seele was appointed as the facade contractor in 2012. NES worked in close partnership with Seele on the build details to seamlessly fit the Ultra LED Light Panels into their EWS unitised glazing system. At this stage Seele were highly reliant on guidance from NES to ensure the diffusion zones and specification of the interlayered glass was correct for diffusion purposes on the CAD model. Achieving the brightness levels through the interlayered double glazed unit with low-e coating was a major challenge. The punch from our Ultra LED Light Panel was essential to achieve this. In addition the reliability of having a thick extruded heat sync riveted to the acrylic Light Guide Plate.
